Parasti nav nepieciešama īpaša sagatavošanās, izņemot gadījumus ar kontrastvielu – tad jābūt tukšam kuņģim pirms MR vēderam un iegurnim.

Ja plānots izmeklējums ar kontrast vielu, ir jānokārto Kreatinīna līmenis asinīs (nieru funkcijas tests) un GFā.
